Michael Jordan on trying things

Michael Jordan is considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest, basketball player of all time. One of the keys to his success is not being afraid to fail and trying his best. His late father was one who instilled the belief in him that's never too late to do something you want to do:

My father used to say that it's never too late to do anything you wanted to do. And he said, 'You never know what you can accomplish until you try.

That's a powerful message and something that can be related to MMA or any other discipline in life. Giving things a shot and then continually failing and getting back up is a tried and true practice to success. Just sticking with the chosen field you're in and continually making improvements after failures is something that allowed former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir to win a title, and even after breaking his leg in a motorcycle accident, come back, fail, but then work his way to an interim title. "Try again. Fall flat on your face, get up, try again. Fall on your face, get up, try again", that's the mantra of Frank Mir, and that has kept him as relevant in this decade as he was over 10 years ago.
